Imagine an expert advisor who guides your strata in planning major upgrades, enhancing comfort, finding financial incentives, and cutting carbon pollution. Did we mention it’s free?
How Does it Work?
The Strata Energy Advisor program supports strata-owned multi-unit residential buildings (condos) across BC to reduce carbon emissions and improve efficiency through energy upgrades timed with necessary replacement projects.
If your building is planning a retrofit and you're considering—or simply curious about—switching from natural gas, adding cooling, or improving overall building performance, this program could be a great fit for you.
When you register, you’ll be assigned an Advisor to help you with a holistic opportunity assessment (we call it a decarbonization plan). This will identify opportunities to align required replacement projects with energy and climate upgrades, helping to achieve zero-emission buildings over time. It aims to balance comfort, cost, and climate considerations throughout the process.
If your strata chooses to pursue a low-carbon project, your Advisor is with you all the way to support through all stages of the project to help navigate best practices, find information, and proceed with confidence.

I’m Interested, How Can the Strata Energy Advisor Program Help?
We know you care about the climate, but right now your priority is fixing the hot water, dealing with the overheating on the 4th floor, and figuring out what the heck an electrical planning report is - right? We're here to help.
Better Planning
A building decarbonization plan takes your depreciation report to the next level. It aligns energy and climate upgrades with required replacements to provide practical recommendations that keep costs low and stay on top of new regulations.
Better Decisions
Planning for a major replacement project can be overwhelming. Our Advisors help your strata balance comfort, cost, and climate considerations with clear side-by-side comparisons that help your strata make informed decisions.
Better Comfort
A well-planned replacement project shouldn’t just be about energy. Adding cooling, improving ventilation, and protecting residents with health concerns are just some of the benefits of a low-carbon building in a changing climate.
Who is Eligible for the Program?
This program is available to strata-owned multi-unit residential buildings (condos) in BC. Unfortunately, ground-oriented residential stratas (such as townhomes or multiplexes) are not currently eligible, unless they are part of a larger multi-unit building. We understand this is disappointing, but we're working on it!
Eligible buildings must:
- Be four or more stories above ground OR greater than 600m2 floorplate (roughly 8 or more units per floor)
- Have an upcoming end of life replacement project; AND
- Have natural gas for heating, hot water, ventilation, or fireplaces and be interested in electrifying one or more of these systems.
Stratas located in the City of Victoria or the District of Saanich:
- Limited spaces are available for multi-unit residential buildings (condos) with five or more units. This includes those who want to switch from electric baseboard heating to heat pumps.
